“Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man”
-Swami Vivekanand
No system of education can function in isolation from the social surroundings in which it exists. Education is the means that a society adopts in order to transmit its values, culture and knowledge from one generation to another and also to mould behaviour. The primary task of education is to socialize the young to understand the needs, goals, and expectations of the society in which they live.
Mere information or knowledge that is not pragmatic is not education. Only knowledge that matures into wisdom and inculcates the skills for living and develops the proper attitude to make the best of these skills should be the objective of education. Vivekananda said,“The education which does not help the common mass of people to equip themselves for the struggle for life, which does not bring out strength of character, a spirit of philanthropy, and the courage of a lion—is it worth the name?”
From time immemorial teachers have been deeply revered in every culture. a real teacher should ‘not teach with any ulterior motive, for name, or fame, or anything else, but simply for love, pure love for pupils’‘The conditions necessary in the taught are purity, a real thirst for knowledge, and perseverance’. These three crucial requirements, if met, would certainly ensure excellence in education, irrespective of curricular flaws.
“Today, because of rapid economic and social change, schools have to prepare students for jobs that have not yet been created, technologies that have not yet been invented and problems that we don’t yet know will arise.” Simply teaching to test or learning for exams is not going to help a student face everyday life situation. Learning is complete and holistic only when a student is able to effectively perform and fulfil his/her responsibilities and duties towards self, school, family, society and above all, the nation.
One of the main parameters in judging how advanced a nation is at present, is education. Swami Vivekananda believed that the future of any nation depends upon its human resource and the main aim of education should be to develop this human resource. Echoing the same spirit, our teachers strive to provide joyful learning opportunities to every child and remove the obstacles in his path. Activities in our Vidyalaya afford holistic grooming to the all students, where they are able to explore their true potential. We accord prime importance to the behavioural discipline, moral integrity, and honesty. The goal is to enable today’s student to be a good citizen and a responsible human-being who is well-aware of his potential and competence.
